I dream of a world where ... No one is homeless.  No one is hungry.  All sick are healed.  No child is left an orphan. People treat the planet and animals with respect.  People care for each other.

My name is Robyn Liebenberg and I assist those in need in South Africa / Zimbabwe. I am a human rights advocate and a philanthropist. I am wanting to start assisting those who are sick and disabled in rural Zimbabwe (starting in Plumtree area).  Together we will assist those who are disabled, sick and homeless.   I assist with human rights issues, finding a roof over their heads, food.  I want to help them help themselves.  The gentleman assisting on the ground in Zimbabwe is Brian Moyo - If anyone would like to reach out to any of the individuals / families mentioned on my website, I'd be happy to share.

Simba

Simba is a young Zimbabwean who was orphaned at a young age.  He has lived most his life on the streets / homeless.  We found Simba on Jan Smuts in Randburg - very sick (no shoes or shirt on) and took him to hospital to be treated.  We put out many public notices to see if anyone recognised him - but no one came forward.  He now has a catheter in (which has to be changed regularly).  We got Simba a small room to rent, a small stove and some food.  He now mends shoes when he is feeling well enough.  Unfortunately  Simba needs urology surgery.   I pay for Simba's rent.

Diana

(parents originally from Uganda).  Mother was assaulted while pregnant in a refugee camp in Mozambique, as a result,  gave birth to Diana premature (she was born with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy).  The hospital will no longer treat her until the parents pay R30,000 (see bill).  Both parents are unemployed.  I have managed to get Diana some medication (paid for at pharmacy - R1300).  Going forward, I am trying my best to get the family legal representation (to get asylum documentation - so that Diana is not denied treatment going forward).

Mary

Mary was a Zimbabwean lady who went to South Africa to try and find work.  She was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 cancer which had sadly spread.  Mary was weak and wanted to get home to her children in rural Zimbabwe.  We got her an emergency travel document, strong pain killers, an iron infusion and a flight home (she would never had made the long bumpy bus journey).

Mary made it home to her children but sadly she passed away weeks later.

We were very fortunate that Amnesty International covered the cost of the expenses of Mary's return !  whew !

Olive

Olive is an asylum seeker from the DRC (Congo).  She went paralyzed overnight and has an autoimmune disease called NMO  (suspected trigger was trauma she endured when captured while fleeing).  Olive had no one to visit her and no family in South Africa and had given up after spending 6 months alone at Helen Joseph Hospital.  Olive's mental health took a big hit,  when we first found her she just cried and cried.  We showered her with visitors, snacks, a phone and love.  She is thriving.  She has now (after 8 months), been moved to rehabilitation doing daily exercises to learn to walk again.   Can you see the difference from picture no 1 to the last one?  A little love and care goes SUCH a long way.   We are hoping Olive will be out in a few months - after that I'll need to cover rent for a room as she won't be able to work.  Olive does not yet have refugee status so will no qualify for any disability funding.

Rose

Rose is a refugee who has sickle cell disease.  Rose was on the wrong medication for years and was turned away from a hospital in Pretoria with just painkillers.  We managed to get her a bed at Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg, where she was rushed into ICU / High care.

Rose is out of hospital, but still not strong enough to work.  I assist Rose with her rent.

Homeless mother and baby

Mom and baby homeless... We got her a room and a warm meal. But sadly the next day she wanted to return to her partner.

Single mothers

Many single moms who have been abandoned by spouses / partners.

(Lady at top in brown shirt is Caroline.  We are organising Caroline to move into a room next to Simba so she can care for him and cook for him).

Medical various

Various medical emergencies.  (South Africa / Zimbabwe / Mozambique)

New requests for help

New cases of people who have reached out for help - we are currently unable to assist without financial help. They all need help and medical attention, state hospitals will not see them without payment (being foreigners)

Food vouchers

I often send out food vouchers to those in need through a website called Computicket.  Groceries can be purchased using the vouchers at Shoprite / Checkers grocery stores.  Proof of vouchers sent.
